What could be more fun than spending the holidays playing outside in nature? This can be done at the farmer, in the woods or by the water. There are plenty of options nearby holiday apartment Op’e Trieme where you can go with your children for free or on a low budget. We list a few here. 

Klein Switzerland 

The Klein Switzerland Lakeside Beach near Sumar as an ideal swimming spot. At the moment the condition of the bathing water is fine. 

Play forest Sparjebird 

This wooded area is the ideal playground for children and families. Messing with water at the water pump, triple jump over tree trunks, 3 different rope bridges and a real climbing tree. You will find all that in Play Forest Sparjebird of Staatsbosbeheer. Walk the ditch route, drag with branches or build your own cabin.  

Strandheem swimming park 

Swimming, sunbathing, lazing around and playing. It is all possible at the Strandheem swimming park at Parkweg 5 in Opende. Laze on a beautiful sandy beach or build a fairytale sandcastle with the children and then play in one of the many playground equipment or take a refreshing dip in the water? At summer temperatures, the entrance fee is 3 euros per person from 3 years. 

Forest playground It Pettebosk 
 
This forest playground is located in De Alde Feanen National Park. The forest, specially created for youth education, has islands, bridges, natural climbing and play equipment, adventurous trails. It is the Alde Feanen in miniature. Between the reeds, the willow trees and peat holes, it is a real place of discovery. Children and adults can playfully get acquainted with nature in De Alde Feanen. 

Beach and playground Oostmahorn 

There are not many places in the Lauwers Lake area where you can swim outside in nature without any worries. The beach and playground at Oostmahorn is one of the few places where you can organise a summer picnic as a family. This recreational area to the west of the Lauwers Lake is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There is also a grassy area with a playground and a separated swimming area. This area is not accessible to boats. Toilets are available. 

Play forest Hossebos Drogeham 

Climbing, scrambling and jumping in, near and above the water. It is all possible in the Hossebos of Staatsbosbeheer. The play forest is somewhat hidden, but is certainly not impossible to find. This play forest is 1 hectare in size and there are six play pools with water. Every playground is different. For the older children there is a jungle bridge and a spider web net. For the younger ones a water spiral with sand and a jetty on which you can fish with nets. Speelbos Hossebos is open all year round and completely free. The play forest is not suitable for very small children and prams/buggies, and there are no toilets.
