The beautiful and surprising region of North-East Friesland is situated between the Wadden Sea World Heritage and National Landscape De Wâlden. It is an area with many different landscapes. De Trieme is located in the middle of the Noardlike Fryske Wâlden: a characteristic scenic landscape with rows of alder trees, hedgerows and pingos. To the north is the open clay landscape. This is an area with clay soil that goes into the Wadden area. Due to the good infrastructure, the area is excellent for walking or cycling. There are various possibilities to cycle or walk for hours and enjoy the beautiful nature and picturesque villages.
Via the walking junction network you can map out and make different tours yourself. Walking junction 46 is situated in De Trieme. There are also 50 historic hiking trails in North-East Friesland. There is also a bicycle junction in De Trieme (number 33) so that you can set up a bicycle tour independently via the bicycle junction network. There are also various pre-planned routes that pass De Trieme. Ask us for more information during your stay. In case you did not bring a bicycle with you, we can rent a bicycle for you.
There are 6 Tourist Transfer Points (TOPs) in the vicinity of De Trieme: Kollum, Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, Oostmahorn, Feanwâlden, Harkema and Earnewâld. All TOPs are easy to reach by car or bicycle. From a TOP you start a beautiful route through the area and read interesting facts about the area. You can follow a route on foot, by bike or by boat.
